Are the old Spinergy Rev-X bicycle wheels safe for use?
I bought a set of used 1999 Spinergy Rev-X road wheels for $200 off of Craigslist. They are in fairly good conidition. I have the rear wheel is the LBS now so that it can get a new bearing in the hub.
I have done some research, and there are a few stories of these wheels catastrophically failing for no reason. If this happens to the front wheel at even a moderate speed, you eat pavement hard. So now I am worried about using them at all.
It seems all of the stories I found have been removed from the orignal websites, and now can only be found at web archive sites. I wonder if this is because the stories were untrue, or because Spinergy bought the victim's silence? I searched the CPSC website and found nothing.
The Spinergy website has a wheel trade in program, where you can get a discount off of very expensive new wheels if you give them the Rev-X's. This furthers my suspicion. Is it even ethical for me to resell these wheels?
I rode the Spinergy Rev-X's for 4 years no problem. Only negative was that you feel the "wind" from passing traffic on your front wheel more.....can be disconcerting at times.

When the wheel is spinning, couldn't the gerbils tail get hit or even chopped by the side bars, as they would be spinning?
Also, if one of my gerbils is on, the other one likes to jump on too. Won't it get hit by the side bars if the other one is going quite fast?

Hey there, Sorry your Dr. is not giving you time to explain exactly what and why you took more Xanax. Doctors do get a bit miffed when patients self prescribe, anyway….Klonopin is a very good drug. It is basically a drug that does what Xanax does, but you need to take it on a daily bases to keep yourself from having attacks, in short, to stay on an even keel so the medication is always level, stays in your system without the "peaking" and then wearing off. Xanax works great, however, it only stays in your system for several hours, and eventually the effects wear off. If your anxiety is severe you really need to take medication everyday until you can work through your issues. Klonopin's chemical compound makeup is very similar to that of Xanax. I am confused though, how many times a day are you supposed to take the Klonopin? Klonopin also works well with Xanax. If you do not get the relief you want, look for a Doctor who might be a better fit for you. Regular therapy works great with the right med's.

I found this story ABC TV did just this month on aged tires that I thought was interesting. Though, I know part of the function of these news stories is just about attracting attention and getting high ratings. Still, I think it only makes sense to be aware of the possible dangers of using old/used tires when it could be a safety issue for ourselves or our families; and one that’s fairly easy to resolve. And in your case, the part about the 12 year old boy putting the tire on worried me too.
