Security Secure Ground
Someone tried to break into my apartment. What should I do?
I just got back from a lovely week of vacation and discovered that someone attempted to break into my apartment. I live on the ground floor and the thief tried to get in from my patio door. I noticed the screen part was slid back and the door was unlocked. the thing that saved me was a security bar I put that blocks the door from being opened. But I am seriously creeped out. It was kind of my fault because I only left the hall light and the TV on, figuring my petsitter would leave a light on at night. (I figured wrong.) It's just scary the idea that someone got so close to getting in my apartment. It's also scary because it was most likely someone in my complex since my apt in the midde of a big secluded complex. What can I do to make myself feel more secure?
The theif will probably return, the only safe thing is to move house, he may even be a murderer..

How should I word my request to a friend?
I recently dropped off my two 2 year olds at a friend's house. She also has a two year old. She is the owner of a pool that has a security fence around it. When I returned she was in the kitchen making cookies and the back door was open so the three children could come in and out as they wanted. She can not see her back yard from her kitchen.
I am not a pool owner and never want one. The three of us did go over and swim in their pool durning the warm summer months.
Here is my issue. I don't like the unsupervised play around the pool. Her security fence is nylon mesh with poles that are secured into the ground. When I use the words "security" and "secure" I am not implying that I am confident with them. I love my friend and am so thankful for her. She willingly watches my two whenever I have an appointment which is frequently. So how should I discuss my fears with my friend.
I think you should tell her exactly what you said in the last paragraph. You're letting her know your concerns, while telling her how much you still appreciate her. She is a mom, she should understand your concern for your child.
