Security Sport Survival
What can I do to make my school better?
My school is very diverse. The school doesn't spend half as much on supplies than on sports. Most of the kids in my school do drugs, but thats after school. Most of them had sex, some 'sleep around'. MOST of the kids are very rude at my school, selfish, you get the point. Well...
In less than a week, we had two bomb threats at my school. They finally closed all the bathrooms, because they write them on the wall in the bathroom. If you have to go, you had to go to one of the centers and get a key. AND a security guard has to escort you! My joke was "Are you gonna hold my hand too?!"
They all say high school isn't so bad. In a way its better, we don't make fun of each other like kids do in middle school. But my high school is like survival of the fittest. You aren't good enough, fast enough, tough enough, you WILL go down.
All of the teachers/staff are wonderful though!
SO....Does my school sound good? And what could I do to make it better?
I wish I could help you but school wasn't like that when I was in high school , you can try and become a leader and make sure your message gets around, I think you will find that more people than not would like to see these types of things go away as well . It might take a bit and you might go through some tough times but end the end it will be worth it. Now if your afraid I don't blame you one bit , you could just lay low until your out and then go on with your life.

is it valid to believe that growing up with many advantages is a handicap as growing up in poverty beneficial?
i hear this a lot in sports talk, supposedly growing up in "inner city" neighborhoods as well as midwestern america give kids a better environment to develop toughness ergo a better developed competitive attitude. can growing up with advantages like an education from expensive schools, security in knowing you (the beneficiary of wealth) will be taken care of even if you can't find work immediately, to go along with the creature comforts that all kids want be beneficial the way parents hope? where can better off kids develop the same needed survival traits that supposedly poorer kids get in a tougher environment? is it even an ideal approach to provide these advantages to your children?
I wouldn't argue that growing up in poverty is beneficial, and if I had to choose between poverty and many advantages for my kids, I wouldn't have to think too long. But a middle ground may be best of all. There are, ridiculous as it sounds, some significant disadvantages of being over-privileged. Highly privileged kids statistically tend to turn at frightening rates to behaviors like drinking, drugs, cutting, and even thoughts of suicide. Check out "The Price of Privilege" (I forget the author) for some interesting statistics.
