Explain why a target shooter might prefer to shoot a more massive gun.?
Why is a more massive gun beneficial? What does the extra weight do?
Look at cameramen on the field, if you watch their equipment, most cameramen will add weights attached to a rod at the bottom of their camera. The weight is there to make the camera/video equipment less shaky. This is the same principle used by archers. The more inertia(heavier) the gun is, the less jittery it becomes. More mass, means it's a lot harder to move around, any movements becomes more fluid as opposed to jerky. All Olympic style air pistols or rifle, are heavy because of this, of course you then need to train yourself to handle the weight. If you just pick up a heavy target gun right away, fatigue will take over and you will shoot all over the place. When I used to shoot these target pistols, it took a while before the coach moved me to the real deal. We started using some light pistols first, combined with weight training to strengthen the shoulders. Once the shoulder is strong, then we moved to the heavier (real) target pistol.

I read it is a .408 cal CheyTac M2xx, but don't exactly recall the model. Go look up the CheyTac website....I'm sure they are loving the publicity.
