How big of a problem is an exposed hammer on a small revolver for conceal carry?
I want to buy a small, .38 special revolver to use for conceal carry. I prefer to shoot revolvers single action rather than double action. However, am I taking a risk by buying a double action revolver with an exposed hammer rather than a concealed hammer? I have tried the shrouded hammer revolvers and don't like them. I like shooting single action much better but I am worried the hammer could accidentally snag on something and cock while in my pocket. Should I play it safe and buy the hammerless revolver? Or will I be ok buying the exposed hammer version? I don't like the hammerless version (concealed hammer) as much because you have to shoot it double action. I don't want the gun going off in my pocket though cause the hammer catches on something. What are your thoughts?
I have a 357 revolver that I carry in my purse. I've had no problem with the hammer moving. It is pretty hard to pull back so I really don't worry about it.

how do you feel about owning a gun while you children in the home? doesnt it make you a little nervous?
i want to be safe but keeping a gun in my home for protection while i have small children is scary to me. it would be a parents worst nightmare to come home from work and a child has been accidently shot and killed messing with a gun they found in the home their parents owned. you cant really blame children for being curious!
All of the above answers are great. In addition I'm not nervous at all. I have a shotgun out for home protection. It stays unloaded so the kids will not/can not hurt themselves or other. Ammo in locked in a safe. Just the sound of a shotgun cycling in the dark of night should make most people think about what they're getting into.
I know what some people will think, but I'm not sure about locks. If someone breaks in, do you think they'll wait for you to unlock your weapon in the middle of the night.

Well, as you said, you have NOT led a calm and sedate life, IF all those stories are true, which I have VERY strong doubts about. IF true, you would probably be dead by now.
Just because YOU do a lot of crazy siht doesn't mean everyone else is as reckless as you.
You're the one who sounds like he is bragging about less than 'cool' behaviour. Most people in big cities don't go around telling people about their 'wild' experiences with drugs, weapons, and the law.
I'll tell you, but they are not things I'm proud of. I embezzled thousands of dollars from a certain company, I was a crack cocaine addict for years, alcoholic for years, wrecked my car, got a DUI, was nearly murdered in cold blood once, etc. Uhh, I have changed my behaviour patterns. I don't care if you call me 'milquetoast' or 'white bread' – I call YOU a 'loose cannon'.
