Protect yourself against the enemy bullet by bullet proof vests
In simple terms a bullet proof vest is a type of personal armor which is worn to prevent bullets and shrapnel from striking the victim. It is also known as ballistic vests, bullet resistant vests and so on. In most cases, bullet proof vests are made from hard metal or material which helps to absorb the impact that is created from the projectile, bullets and the shrapnel that is created due to explosions. The vest is usually worn in the torso to cover the vital parts of the body. In today’s world, where security and defense resources are one of the top priorities of almost all countries, it is essential that the defense forces and the police personnel are supplied with proper bullet proof jackets to defend against the enemy bullets.
In most of the times, the soft bullet proof vests are made from a number of layers of fibers which are laminated. Through this layering of hard fibers, the vest is quite able to protect the wearer from bullets and shrapnel from handguns of small caliber. Moreover, it is also effective in prevention against projectiles of the shotgun and explosive fragments of hand grenades. In order to provide extra protection during high scale encounters and battles, the bulletproof vests are also provided with ceramic plates and metal plates. This offers better protection from rifle bullets and also from slash and stab attacks of the sharp object such as a knife.
Advanced and hard bullet proof jacket is mainly worn by soldiers, commandoes, hostage rescue teams, police tactical and SWAT units, combat personnel and so on. These types of jackets are mainly made from hard-plate metal items. They consist of a ballistic vest as well as other forms of protective fiber clothing for more protection. In most cases, these also have side protection armor equipments and ballistic shoulder equipments for protection against heavy armor and bombs.
The main function of a bullet proof jacket is to “catch” the bullet and deform thereby preventing it from entering the body. The penetrating bullet is caught and is deformed into a disc shape. The force and impact of the bullet or shrapnel is spread over the larger part of the vest. Another good thing about bullet proof vests is that the wearer is also able to absorb the energy of the bullet by the strong fabric material.
For hard bullet proof jackets, the hard textile material is added with various metal parts like titanium or steel. These are meant for more protection of the vital areas of the body like the spine and the heart. These make then them very effective against automatic rifles and machine guns.
While wearing bullet proof vests, one should also give some importance to the parts like carriers and so on. The size of the vest should also be such that it properly suites the stature and size of the wearer. Loose vests will not be so effective against bullets. Another vital thing that is essential in a bullet proof jacket is carriers. In most cases, the ballistic panel and the bullet resistant plates are fitted inside a particular carrier. Usually, the carrier is the part of the vest that is visible. They have pockets which are meant to store ballistic panels and have straps which help the wearer. Usually, the carriers come in twp types: tactical carriers and military carriers. Military carriers consist of various types of hooks and looks and a number of type connectors on the back and the front face.
