what is the name of this item i'm describing, i want to buy it but i don't know what it is called please help
when i went off to college last year my sister gave me this huge "trunk" thing for me to safely keep snacks , my laptop and other stuff locked up when i wasn't around.she used it when she went to college about 6 years ago. i'm back home(1700 miles away from the college i went to) and i wanted to buy one for my room at home but i don't know the proper name for it. it's a storage bin that looks more like a huge treasure chest hoodini would lock himself in. it's not plastic, it was very heavy even with nothing it. once again, what made it different from a regular old 10 dollar storage bin was that it could be LOCKED. it was large enough to hold clothing, electronics,etc(not just to hold car keys and jewelry). i'm not talking about some 1,000 dollar federal bank bolt trunk, just enough to keep my little brother from meddling in my top secret stuff(lol)..........does anyone know what i'm refering to and where i may be able to buy it?
If it is not actually a trunk perhaps it is a footlocker. You can find those fairly reasonably at an army surplus store.

What is this kind of hinge called?
Hi,
im building a storage unit for the truck, and i need a certain type of hinge. It would be to hold the lid of the box up. It would be similar the the hinge that opens your truck on and SUV. Kinda like a hydrolic hinge. similar to maybe a hinge on a chest, that hold the lid up. That's the best way i can describe it, it's kinda hard to put into words. What would that be called and were can i get it(home depot?)
The hinge on an SUV is not hydraulic. There is a separate hydraulic lift that keeps the hatch open.
That said, use the type of hinge that gives the best strength and use lifts to hold it open.
