Looking to buy a home cordless phone system, one line. The base set should have an answering system.?
Base set should also have speakerphone and ability to dial from it even if the handset is misplaced. It should be able to display caller ID (even better if it announces the caller). I got one from Radio Shack but returned it because it was tinny in the sound department. My house WiFi is 2.4 GHz but I found no interference in either direction. The system should be expandable to add 2 or 3 more handsets. I think digital is supposed to be better than analog for security reasons but analog has better voice quality, according to Consumer Report. I can also see where a headset jack would come in handy. I have no idea if 2.4 or 5.8 or 1.9 GHZ is best. (I have not seen the 1.9 GHz/DECT units in any store yet.) SO, HAS ANYONE BOUGHT A RECENT MODEL WITH MY SPECS AND BEEN HAPPY WITH THE PRODUCT?

I got the Uniden 5.8 with 6 extension and 1 wi-fi bluetooth...and I love it, have it for 15 month...the mainbase-phone as a firewall with build-in router...Uniden and Panasonic are made by the same manufacture!

MDG computers?
This is a question for any one who has hade an experiance with mdg computers in Canada I've seen some of thetre laptops online and have gone into the store and they seem to have some amazing deals (it allmost seems to good to be true). 'm looking at buying a APTONBOOK L from them for $2,100 (including tax 3 year waranty). Its got a 160GB Western Digital whisper quiet SATA hardrive,highspeed dvd/cd rewriter, built in1.3 mp camera,biometric fingerprint reader security, it also has allot of other features I like and is apparently very good for gaming. Aswell it has alot of freebies (software,case,net for 3 months,ext). Anyways I really need to know if I can trust them. Thanks in advance to anyone who has info on this company.

MDG is the old Buck-a-day computer company (remember those commercials? "Do you really want a clo-one...")
Anyway, they are absolute budget level computers, meaning they use the cheapest components they can possibly find. This means you pay less, but you will probably have one (or more) components fail on you. With a 3 year warranty this is less of a concern, but make sure you read the terms of the Warranty carefully - having to mail your new laptop somewhere every 6 months really drives up the cost of ownership.
Another thought: $2100 is a lot to pay for a laptop. I would shop around more. A really decent laptop (Toshiba, HP, even a Dell) can be had for half that price at FutHut (Future Shop) or Best Buy - especially if you wait for a good deal in the flyer.
If we were talking about a $500 laptop, I'd say go for it. But for that kind of cash, I think you can do better with a brand name.

Are you asking what you HAVE to do, or what you SHOULD do?
You have to do the minimum.
If it were my company, and I was at risk of a $10,000 fine for every employee who lied to me, I'd get everything I could, and keep electronic and hard-copy records. Maybe keep photographs, fingerprints,etc. – for safety reasons – and have the employee sign a statement that they are offering true and correct information to you , the employer, and that they will be liable for any penalties and actions held against the company.
