| | The Effect of Organisational Values on Employee Theft $159.32 The primary purpose of this study is to explore empirically the relationship between staff perceptions about organisational values and employee theft, with the intention of showing that the perception of strong organisational values in the workplace by employees minimises the occurrence of employee theft. The study focuses on a chain of supermarkets in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A total of 429 employees from the chosen supermarkets company have answered the questionnaire. Winnipeg Tourist with rag top convertible?
I will be traveling through Winnipeg and really wanted to stop at the Assiniboine zoo and was wondering if this is a huge risk for the car to be stolen or broken into... it is a Mitsubishi eclipse spyder and therefore stands out clearly but we would be visiting only during the day... the only issue is that we will also have basically all of our possessions... mostly just clothing left in the car. Is there a huge possibility that theft will occur or is the auto theft in Winnipeg really an overstatement and the chances are slim? Thanks. Sorry just an overly nervous traveller.
Winnipeg has a very high rate of break-ins. It is not an overstatement. The chances are high.
If you have a flashy car full of stuff, you are taking an especially big risk in my opinion, even if it is in the daytime. If there is any way you could leave your car with a friend and take a bus, or find some other secured parking or storage, I'd definitely do that instead.
Break-ins are so common the cops won't even come out much of the time. I was visiting someone once and left my car in a well-lit lot overnight in a decent neighborhood (of St. Boniface I think, not sure), and despite the fact that my car was old and beat-up and empty except for a mid-range CD player in it, my car got broken into and the CD player ripped out. I heard they sell them on the black market for like $20, while it cost well over $100 for me to have the glass replaced.
The car next to me, and I think a third one in the same lot, also got broken into and still the cops didn't even bother coming out when we called them, they said this crime is too common for them to go out every time. They just made a report and said we could get the report from them if we needed it for the insurance company.
Even if it is just clothing in the car what I've heard is that it is tempting because they don't know what else is in, or under, the clothing.
If you really want to see the zoo but don't have a safe place to leave the car, I'd at the very least be sure to (1) have a theft-prevention device like the Club, or a tracing service, so that the car itself is secured as much as possible, and (2) keep your valuables on your person, so that if your car does get broken into you have fewer things to worry about. Hopefully if you do these things the only risks will be the glass and the clothes, which is less of an issue than having the car hotwired or losing your travel money or something else of value.
If your car gets broken into but not stolen there are plenty of glass repair shops in the city that will get you new windows that day so that you can continue on your trip with only a few hours' delay (although... this might only apply to boring cars with standard glass like mine, and not cool rare sporty-curved glass like your sports car probably has).
