Which medium will speed of light be greater? vacuum, atmosphere on Mars, Ind Ocean at 200 ft, door of a vault?
This is a question in physical science class, last part of question refers to the door of a bank vault.
Think of which medium will provide the least resistance to the light to propigate through.
The speed of light in a vacuum is the maximum speed light will travel, in any other medium, it is slower. The amount the speed changed is based on how "optically dense" the material is. There is a numbering system to designate this, called the index of refraction (symbolized "n").
Each substance has its own index of refraction,
a vacuum is 1.000000000000,
air is almost 1, just slightly over,
water is must higher, and so on.
If you know the index of refraction, you can calculate the speed of light by dividing the speed of light in a vacuum by the index of refraction,
v = c / n

Incredible Memory Makers: the Four Simple Steps to Creating and Opening the Door to Your Loved Ones
Everybody has special people in their lives. It might be your children, your parents, your siblings, your best friends, close family friends – we all have our special loved ones. It’s imperative that we save and preserve the memories that we have with these important people. 1. Create special profiles for loved ones.
A special profile is basically a place where you would put important details. Record names, birthdays, relationships and how these people fitted into your life. Were they family friends or was it your best friend? Record a rich depth of information here so that it conjures up wonderful memories for you, and so your future generations can really get an insight into who these people were and how they were special to you.
2. Have a visual system to show how your loved ones fitted into your life.
Have a system whereby you can create a family tree style matrix or a way of viewing your different loved ones and how they were related to you in your life. It needs to be something easy to do, and be located in the same place where these profiles are found. This system needs to be a way that your children, grandchildren or great grandchildren are able to see who the special people in your life were and how they fitted into your life – even if you aren’t there.
3. You need a system to bookmark amazing photos and videos to define these relationships.
You need a simple system, preferably on your computer, where you can not only create these profiles and visual views but you can also bookmark special images and video so that you can look back and easily collate this information. Use it for a special occasion, or to help future generations see these people in action with you and how they’re related.
4. Keep it safe.
No-one will be able to enjoy this wonderful door into your life if it’s lost.
