Are Electronic Keypads Safer Than Deadbolts?
High security doesn't mean you need steel doors or multiple deadbolts on your front door. In fact, these days, quality home security is far less conspicuous. An electronic keypad is the perfect way to keep your home and office safe without being too obvious. In fact, electronic keypads have been in use for many years, but only recently have they made the leap to private residence. Many people are also using them in their offices for added protection against possible break ins. Why Choose Electronic Keypads? While ordinary deadbolt door locks give you some security, there is nothing like a keypad to deter a would-be thief. This is the height of security and it will keep any room, or your home and office, safe from invasions. Security isn't the only reason you should consider investing in an electronic keypad, however. There are other factors to consider. If you tend to lose your keys or worry that they might be stolen and used by someone else, then a keypad is the perfect door lock solution. No key is needed and you'll never have to worry about locking yourself out of the house or office, again. While the initial cost may be slightly more than a regular deadbolt lock, you have to admit that the added peace of mind is well worth it. Features to Consider There are a few different types of electronic keypads. Some security locks are automatic and will lock again within 5 minutes of being opened. Others will stay open until you relock them. You can choose between the two types, or pick a third, which offers both options. The third type of keypad will let you decide if you want the door to lock automatically or not and you can always change this in the future, according to your preference. It's essentially a 2 in 1 security lock which can be tailored to meet your needs. If you find that you never remember to relock the door, then set it to do so automatically. Another thing to consider is the ease of installation. Many door locks require a special installation, but if you opt for Schlage electronic keypads, you'll save yourself a lot of time and hassle by doing the lock installation yourself. It isn't difficult and the locks come with a battery which enables them to be used immediately. You can literally replace your lock and be up and running within a few minutes, following the instructions that come with the lock. Where Can You Use Them? Often, security locks aren't just needed on the front door. If you have a wine cellar, a vault or a safe room in your home, then you will probably want a security lock for that room, as well. Putting a door lock on any room that contains valuables is a good idea. With an electronic keypad, you can secure any room in your house and not have to worry about unscrupulous people finding their way into your locked room. Since there is no key, there's no worry that someone who shouldn't will find the key. You can always change the combination if you suspect it has been compromised and you'll be able to use different ones for each door, if you wish. For the best in securing your home, office or individual rooms, nothing beats an electronic keypad. Use one for each space that you want to keep secure, for the best protection. These security locks also make it easy to keep your home safe, since you no longer need to carry door keys around with you.
