we have used ours without issue for a long time. You just have to flush them out now and then with a weak bleach solution to keep the bacteria from accumulating. Too much bleach degrades the seals, so make sure you're only using about a capful of bleach to 1 gallon of hot water. Soak and rinse thoroughly and dry. There are spreaders you can get at places like www.campmor.com or www.rei.com that speed the drying process along.
