Waterproof Safe What are safe durable wood finishes that can be used on kid's toys?
I am trying to make some wooden toys for preschool age kids, so I need something that is non-toxic. I don't want to use mineral oil or anything else that might leave stains, and I need something that will be durable and waterproof... okay "saliva-proof." Any thoughts? Thanks Steven for your wisdom and input. I will definitely take your advice into consideration for future projects. However, the projects I currently have in mind really do need some sort of durable top coat.
Krylon spray paint make a very durable and easy to use product. I have used it on several projects for the kids and it works well .

Whats the best way to waterproof an outside outlet?
I just bought a house and outside against the wall in the backyard theres an outlet with a cover on it. its totally unprotected and right now i use an extension cable that runs over to my shed for power. Well the rainy season is coming up and it cant be safe to have that plugged in in the rain, any ideas?

1) Buy a "In use weather proof outlet cover" and tube of silicone. 2) Go home & turn off power to outside outlet. 3) Remove existing cover and install the "In use weather proof outlet cover" that you just bought. 4) Plug extension cord in. 5) Restore power and test equipment. 6) Run bead of silicone around the cover and wall. 7) After the extension cord has deteriorated because IT"S been in the weather, Run a dedicated circuit out to shed.
