Wolf Pack Gun

Do you think you could kill a wolf with your bare hands?
Ok this is an age old debate between my friends. Rules are A. you are in a sterile enviorment (72 degrees, dry, no sticks, rocks, guns, knives.) B. The wolf is alone. C. Don't try to expain to me that wolves are pack animals I know this is supposed to be about strength and is a hypothetical situation(obviously).
My roommates think that they could easily kill it. I believe this is a delusion of granduer and that the wolf (being a wild animal) would simply maul your face off and enjoy you as a vicotory snack. Let me know what you think. Explain your reasoning. Show your work?
BTW I'm 6'5" weigh about 210 and don't think I could take on a rabid wolf

Machine Gun - New Moon Wolf Pack Contest Entry
How do I fend off an attacking wolf?
I know all the ways to scare it off as they are usually timid, but I want to know what to do if I am attacked by a wolf.
Yesterday, I was hunting birds with my pellet gun out in our back woods. I was with a friend and we rounded a corner and saw a wolf about 100ft away. It was a timber wolf but still a wild predator, no sign of a pack as this was at about 4:00pm in daylight. It didn't show any signs of aggression.
We were both scared to death but I kept my head and waved my arms and yelled and it ran off, shooting it with the pellet gun would have probably just pissed it off. I dont want to use a rifle to hunt birds.
I am completely freaked out by this encounter as I have been afraid of wolves since i was a kid. But what if it was a one-on-one thing and it didn't leave. Let's say escape isn't an option, I have no idea what to do other than protect my neck at all costs.
Two weeks ago we had a female teacher get mauled to death by a pack of wolves here in Alaska. It was all over the news and CNN.
I am a long time Alaskan trapper and survival instructor.
If a wolf gets you on the ground it is going to finish you off. Even a full grown man would not be able to protect his neck. Take a serious look at a moose neck - it's thick like a human leg and 3x the amount of muscle covering it.
On the big up side - wolves really do not mess with people. You have to have the worst luck in the world - like that lady last month in Alaska......
If escape is not an option - you need to keep moving. Do not run. Walk. Walk with a purpose and not too fast. Do not make eye contact. You stop - they will surround and attack just like they learned from their parents. Moving at least keeps you alive and the game in play. If you choose to climb a tree - better pick one your really like that will hold you - you could be up there until the next morning.
What should you do?
First - leave a note on the fridge letting your folks know where you are and when you plan to come back.
Second - always come back home on time!! You have no idea how many guys tell their wife they will be home at sunset, forget to call and say they are back in town - and don't show up until after midnight from playing cards with the guys. Then when the guy does get in trouble - nobody notices until the next morning when they are really late! Me - I want to get rescued in 1 hour. Not 1 day.
Third - carry a cell phone and know where the coverage ends. Most important - know what hills have coverage!!
Next - pepper spray. Remember, this is a tool, not a toy. You get 1/2 of 1/2 of 1/2 of a drop on a finger - everything you touch is going to get peppered. Only going to be minute before you touch your eye, mouth or nose and end up in allot of pain.
Next - if you can't have pepper spray - carry a quality sling shot and a bunch of big marbles or small rocks. At close range a wrist rocket will put a marble though 3/4" plywood and then some. You get treed by a wolf - you can help him leave by hitting him in the face with a fast marble and hurt it. You can't do much with pocket lint.
Last - carry some parachute cord or similar light weight strong cord. Tie it off to the main part of the tree below you, leave 15 feet of slack, and put a slip knot in it. While you are stuck in the tree you might as well do something - like get that slip knot around it's neck. Do that, it will back up and likely choke itself and pass out. You will need to haul it up just a bit to make sure it is dead.
Why would I know all this? Back in 1981 I had a friend in Maine who was out hunting. Didn't see any deer so he used up all his ammo target shooting at trees. Fun until a pack of coydogs came around the trail and treed him. (coydogs are half coyote, half big dog inter bred). He climbed the tree at 3pm in the afternoon and had to wait until nearly 11 am the next day for it to be clear. Everytime he thought they were gone and he came down - the popped out of no where. He went back to the very same place the next weekend with his brother and shot two of the five. What I remember most - how damn big they were and how just the two of them filled up the bed of his pickup truck. Maine fish and game was totally stoked and happy - these were some of the first specimens they had gotten to examin. Took him most of the winter - but he and his brother eventually got the other three. They really, really pissed him off bad. They went up there every weekend for a long time.
He'd talk about what he wished he had - and what he wished he had with him. Me - I learned never to shoot off the last 10 rounds of my ammo!! No matter where I am.
