Your Doors
Should a wood floor be lighter or darker than your cabinets, doors and trim?
My husband wants the floor to match the doors and trim. I say that would look bad. I think that the floor should be lighter than the doors and trim. What do you think?
Myself personally, I like darker floors. If they match, that's not too bad either.
My reasoning is this: think about what you see in nature. Let's imagine you're walking in a forest. What's the lightest? The sky (ceiling), right? Okay, next is the medium tone, so the trees (walls). And what's the darkest? The ground (floor). Look anywhere in nature and that's what you'll see.
I know this seems kind of nutso, but the most harmonious spaces seem to follow this idea. It looks the most natural to the eye.
